BUL FC delivered a commanding performance as they thrashed Total FC 7-0 in the Round of 16 of the 2024-2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup at the Njeru Technical Centre on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

The emphatic victory saw Abbey Bogere Kikomeko’s side secure their place in the quarterfinals with ease.

From the first whistle, BUL FC displayed their attacking intent, taking an early lead through a penalty converted by Jeromy Kirya in the 27th minute after Karim Ndugwa was fouled in the box. Just six minutes later, Ndugwa doubled the advantage, finishing off a brilliant pass from Fredrick Ngalo. The first half ended with BUL firmly in control at 2-0.

The second half, however, saw BUL unleash a relentless attacking display, adding five more goals to complete the rout. Ndugwa completed his brace in the 47th minute, courtesy of a superb assist from Isaac Wagoina. A series of substitutions after the 58th minute injected fresh energy into the team, with Lawrence Tezikya netting the fourth goal in the 75th minute.

Wagoina, who had been instrumental throughout the match, got on the scoresheet in the 81st minute, making it 5-0. Reagan Kalyowa added another in the 83rd minute, before Wagoina struck again in the 89th minute to seal the 7-0 victory.

BUL’s head coach, Abbey Bogere Kikomeko, praised his team’s clinical performance and expressed his determination to win the trophy.

“Today we played Total FC, and it wasn’t an easy team, given their previous wins, including eliminating Express FC. We came with the aim of scoring goals, and the boys delivered,” Kikomeko said. “I’m ready to face anyone in the quarterfinals. I want to win this cup,” he added.

BUL FC’s journey in the Uganda Cup has been impressive so far. After a narrow 1-0 win against Garuga Stars, they cruised past Bugoigo Leopards 3-1, and their dominant 7-0 victory over Total FC further cements their status as serious contenders for the trophy.

In other Round of 16 action, SC Villa secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Lugazi FC, while KCCA FC triumphed 4-0 over Rwenzori Lions at the MTN Omondi Stadium, with James Mubezi scoring a brace.

The Uganda Cup remains fiercely competitive, with BUL FC now joining the likes of SC Villa, KCCA, Kitara, and Police FC in the quarterfinals. The winner of the competition will earn a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, adding extra significance to the tournament.

The next round of fixtures will see Vipers hosting Blacks Power at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, while URA will face Kataka at Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds. As the competition heats up, BUL FC’s dominant form makes them a team to watch in the quest for Uganda Cup glory.
