Thursday Uganda Premier League

BUL FC 1-0 Busoga United FC

Airtel Kitara 7-1 Arua Hill

UPDF FC 1-2 KCCA FC

BUL FC head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko admitted that his side was on the receiving end for most of the match during their  1-0 against Busoga United on Thursday at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

"We had anticipated a tough game from them and indeed it happened as we suffered to contain a team that has players who love to go at us. We were so lucky to get an early goal that gave us three points because a derby is always a derby," said Kikomeko who formerly coached Busoga United FC from 2016 to 2020.

Busoga United FC gave a good account of themselves when they dominated proceedings with Eric Ajo and Bernard Mugwa squandering glorious chances in the first 20 minutes.

But they were made to pay for their missed opportunities in the 30th minute when in-form BUL FC striker Alex Kitata headed in the winner off Ibrahim Mugulusi's well-taken corner.

Credit though had to go to Busoga United FC's midfielder Allan Kayiwa who bossed the midfield in both halves.

Then came in the second half when Kikomeko brought off Ibrahim Mugulusi and replaced him with Lawrence Tezikya but that could not stop Kayiwa's territorial domination.

Ajo, Joel Matata, Freddrick Ngalo, and Bernard Mugwa all fluffed their efforts.

Then came in the last 10 minutes when Tom Ikara pulled an outstanding save off Mugwa's effort while defender Ronald Oti made a goal-line clearance off Ngalo's low effort that had beaten Ikara off his line.

Busoga United FC head coach Peter Onen was left disappointed by his side's wasted opportunities.

"We had a game plan of locking them out and we did create many opportunities that should have given us three points today but we wasted so many opportunities that cost us ", said Peter Onen who formerly managed BUL FC from 2016-2018.

BUL FC stayed at the top with 32 points, six points better than second-placed Airtel Kitara FC and thrashed Arua Hill FC 7-1.

KCCA FC won 2-1 against UPDF FC.
