Bugweri and Budiope share spoils

Bugweri Entuudhi FC and Budiope FC from the Nendha group were held in a draw match 1-1 during match day four of the MTN Busoga Masaza Cup football tournament 2024. 

The match which was attended by hundreds of people was at Busesa Mixed Primary School playground in Bugweri district on Saturday. 

The home team, Bugweri, had a phenomenal start, in the 24th minute Robert Kayizi struck a powerful header inside the net of his opponents, Budiope FC, to put Bugweri up 1-0 in the first half. 

Kayizi scored after a successful pass from Aliyii Gavamukulya at the right wing into the area. 

In the Second Half, towards the end of the game, Budiope FC responded with a shot from Waiswa Kungu into the goal, attracting applause from spectators, to end in a 1-1 draw. 

Bugweri Entuudhi wasted several chances to score including a one where Gavamukulya Aliyii missed heading the ball into the net. 

Goalkeepers of both teams including Musa Matende (Budiope) and Richard Oroma (Bugweri Entuudhi) displayed wonderful skills as they made several saves during the match.   

Kifuuwa Isa, the head coach of Budiope FC was happy after the end of the game saying that the draw favoured their side and the points he got have opened up his team’s chances of winning the next games.  

The former head coach of Bukono appreciated his team's sponsors and requested well-wishers to follow suit.  

Bugweri’s head coach Mulondo Habibu, said the game did not favour his side because they wanted a win but in vain. 

Mulondo added that his team faced challenges in defending the game after scoring against Budiope FC in the first half of the game. 

He said he aims to win this year’s MTN Busoga Masaza Cup football tournament and that he is going to intensify training of his boys to win the trophy. 

In other games played on Saturday, Butembe beat Buzaaya 1-0 in a game that was played at Budondo sub-county playground which puts Butembe in the lead of Kagulu Group with 4 points.
