The Entebbe Club Kabalaza Golf Championship will set this year’s golf calendar in motion on February 7, as part of another action-packed calendar featuring over 45 tournaments spread across different clubs across the country.
The three-day championship will start on Thursday, February 5, with a professional’s and a 54-hole amateur’s event before the subsidiary event on Saturday.
But this will be after the Entebbe Junior Open on January 30 and the MTN Monthly Tees tournament on January 24. Clubs like the Uganda Golf Club and others would also have held their monthly competitions.
The Entebbe Ladies Open will follow suit on February 28, the same month the Uganda Golf Union will hold its elective assembly, February 27, after the Stanbic Match Play qualifier and the MTN February Tees on February 14 and February 21, respectively.

The two-nation Victoria Cup between Uganda and Kenya will be the highlight tournament in March, to be held at Entebbe Club, March 5-7, alongside the I&M Golf Series and the Stanbic Match Play’s first round, still in Entebbe. The Uganda Seniors Golf Society (USGS) Western Region tournament at Mbarara Sports Club, the Elgon Open at Mbale Sports Club, and the Rwenzori Open at Tooro Club are all scheduled for March.
The first round of the Pearl of Africa Golf Series and the Presidents Cup in Entebbe on April 4 and April 25 are the major tournaments in the month, alongside the Kilembe Mines Ladies Open, the Kitante Open, and the Tororo Opens, all scheduled for the same month.
In May, golfers will head north for the Lira Open, May 7-9, before the Absa Captain’s Bell tournament at the UGC on May 13-16, before the Namulonge and Mbale Ladies Opens on May 23 and May 30, respectively.
The Pearl of Africa Golf Series second leg at the Lugazi Hills Golf and Country Club will be held on June 24-27 after the West Nile Open and the amateur tour to be held on June 13. The Palm Valley open on June 27 will close the month's action before a busy July in which 11 tournaments are scheduled.
The NCBA Open at Jinja Club, the Deo Akope Challenge in Entebbe, the Hima Open in Kasese, the Johnnie Walker Serena Open in Kigo, the Mbale and Lugazi Opens, and the Tana Memorial at Tororo Club are some of the events that golfers will engage in. The five-in-one Uganda Open will take center stage in August in between the USGS Eastern Region Tournament and the Kilembe Mines Junior Open and the second leg of the Amateur Tour.
The other events to look out for in the year include the Tooro Ladies Open in Fort Portal, the Kakira Open in Jinja, and the Mbale Coffee Open in Mbale in October; the Entebbe, Kinyara, and Equity-NARO Opens in November; and the Eastern Open, Chairman’s Putter-Kilembe, the Stanbic Junior Open, and the UCAA Seniors Golf Open in December, among other club events spread out throughout the year.
