A TikToker who allegedly abused the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Mutebi, and President Yoweri Museveni, has been released on a cash bail of sh2m after spending over two months in Luzira Prison.

Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayiizi today, April 29, 2024, granted Ibrahim Musana also known as Pressure 24/7 bail after finding his sureties substantial.

His sureties Caroline Mugoya and Margaret Nabuzale, both relatives of the accused person, were each directed to execute a non-cash bond of sh20m.

“The accused person was charged in this court on February 23, 2024. It is now 60 days since the trial has not yet commenced and the state attorney Ivan Kyazze needs two weeks to conclude the investigations in his hate speech case,” he noted.

The magistrate, therefore, ordered the accused to desist from mentioning the name of the Kabaka of Buganda,  President of Uganda, Anita Among, and Joyce Ssebugwawo on his social media handles until the case is completed.

“Should you mention any of the names, your bail will be cancelled,” Kayiizi warned.

When Musana first appeared in court in February, this year, he declined to plead to the charges, saying he was not aware that by posting such videos, he was committing an offence since he is psychologically unwell having been admitted to Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital some time back.

According to Musana, he was being disturbed by the spirits of Buganda’s dead kings who demanded him to repair their tombs but he was financially constrained.

Musana said for two years he has been writing to Buganda Kingdom informing them that he is a Prince but he has not received any response.

He therefore pleaded with the court to forgive him, saying he will stop attacking leaders and delete all the hate speech content from his TikTok account.

His troubles started when Buganda Kingdom officials reported a case of ridiculing the Kabaka to the Police. He was then arrested and kept under police custody for a week prior to his production in court.

Prosecution alleges that between August 2023 and February 2024 in areas of Kampala district, while using a computer via his TikTok account, Musana shared information which is likely to degrade or demean and promote hostility against four leaders including the Kabaka, Museveni, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and State Minister for Information Communication Technology, Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo.
