Is false prosecution a new form of land grabbing?

Across Uganda, complaints have surfaced accusing some district officials, security personnel and other influential actors of orchestrating arrests, initiating trumped-up criminal charges and pursuing prosecutions, particularly in disputes involving land. For some of those caught in these battles, the ordeal has led them through police cells and, in some cases, to Luzira Prison, only for courts later to question the evidence, dismiss the charges or find that their constitutional rights had been violated.
