Uhuru, Sserunjogi and Mberaze in court to defend mayoral seats

National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Moses Katabu filed a case challenging the victory of Salim Uhuru as the Kampala Central Division mayor.

In a case filed before Justice Flavia Nabakooza, Katabu was represented by Lydia Nakyejwe and Israel Kidandaire, while Uhuru and the Electoral Commission were represented by Okodel Olupot, Ezra Wabwire, Harriet Auma, and Esther Nakamatte.

Other cases that proceeded before Justice Nabakooza included that of Farouk Bulime challenging the election of Emmanuel Sserunjogi as the Kawempe Mayor. Also challenged is Rubaga Division Mayor Zack Mberaze.

All of the mayors were sued alongside the Electoral Commission. The parties appeared in court to confirm the filing of their petitions, and the court scheduled dates for responses and rejoinders from the petitioners, if applicable.

They will return to court on October 1, 2026, for a mention of the cases.
