Three candidates have been faulted for shunning the joint campaigns in Kitgum District ahead of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primary elections.

Lilian Aber, the Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Relief and Refugees, Beatrice Atim Anywar, the Minister of State for Environment, and Henry Okello Oryem, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, have been accused of conducting individual campaigns, which is contrary to the party guidelines.

They are contesting for the District Woman MP, Kitgum Municipality MP, and Chau East MP flags, respectively.

Cyrus Odongkene, the NRM Registrar for Kitgum District, said the act of the trio is a violation of the party’s rules.

According to him, his office only received a letter from Oryem, requesting to be exempted from the joint campaigns due to his tight schedule.

When contacted for a comment, Aber disclosed that she had written to the party's Electoral Commission chairperson, Tanga Odoi, who gave her a green light to conduct an individual vote hunt.

Meanwhile, several phone calls made to Anywar for comment went unanswered.
