President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the chairman of the National Resistance Movement Party (NRM), has rallied supporters to vote for the party's flag bearer in Adjumani West by-elections, Leku James Pili.
On Tuesday, September 15, Museveni addressed the NRM party final campaign rally held at Paridi Stadium.
Huge crowds included senior government officials, ministers, former candidates in the race and members of Parliament in the region.
During the rally, Tandrupasi Patrick, the FDC-leaning candidate, alongside 103 FDC supporters, joined the NRM party.
Museveni urged the people of Adjumani West to vote for the party flag bearer to replace former legislator late Moses Ali.

He also preached the message of wealth creation and appreciated Anyama Ben and other candidates for stepping down in unity and cohesion.
"Today we are here to campaign for someone to replace Moses Ali in Parliament and the NRM primaries brought up Leku, there were other NRM candidates in the competition and there was also FDC man ,I don't know why people saw in FDC because I don't know if they have a plan ,politics of FDC was part of the bad politics, am glad that Anyama agreed to support Leku to show that we are not divided.
We're very happy that the FDC man has also seen light, you have given me a good birthday present. I am here to request you to support Leku because he has been working with NRM closely, " Museveni said.
Dennis Hamson Obua, the vice chairperson for the Northern region, while addressing the crowd of NRM supporters, commended the district for fully supporting and voting for the party in the previous elections.
The NRM general secretary, Dr Tanga Odoi, applauded the party and the people for the peaceful primary elections.
"I need to thank the NRM Electoral Commission for the peaceful NRM primary elections and the people of Adjumani for living in unity and harmony with the refugees, which is the spirit of Pan-Africanism," Odoi said.
The Adjumani West by-elections shall take place on the 17th September 2026.
