Premier Nabbanja boosts NRM campaigns in Kikuube LC5 by-election

KIKUUBE - The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja is in Kikuube district to mobilise support for the NRM Candidate ahead of Thursday’s LC5 by-election.

Nabbanja joined the NRM leaders on Tuesday afternoon as the candidates wrap up their campaigns and elections are scheduled for June 18.

Her campaign team includes: the Minister for local government, Balaam Barugahara and Minister for Bunyoro affairs, Mary Mugasa, joining NRM officials, including the Director for Mobilisation Rosemary Nansubuga Sseninde, Electoral Commission Commissioner, Jane Alisemera and district party leaders.

According to Seninde, different teams have been dispatched to various villages to intensify mobilisation of the voters, highlighting key achievements the party has registered in the district as well as other development programs that the NRM government intends to implement.

EC also confirmed that voting will take place at the 330 polling stations in Kikuube. The district has 144,999 registered voters. 

The byelection follows the death of the district chairperson, Peter Banura, on April 4, 2026, in a road crash. Banura, a son of Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza was knocked dead by a speeding commuter taxi.

The incident occurred in Butyamba-Kamusunsi village, Kiziranfumbi town council, along the Hoima-Fort Portal highway.
