President Yoweri Museveni has told the people of Busoga region he is tired of unnecessary conflicts 'because we waste a lot of time'.
The President made the remarks while addressing his second and final re-election campaign rally of the day at Bulumba Ginnery Grounds in Kaliro district on November 18, 2025.
Museveni promised that all malpractices that marred the party’s primaries in Kaliro will be investigated and the rightful winners declared once those aggrieved adduce evidence to support their claims.

“In Namutumba (district), a certain chairman had been declared, but [Simon] Menya, the one who is there now, appealed and brought very good facts which are easy to prove. So, when I came in, I could see that there was clearly a problem,” he said.
Museveni, who is the NRM national chairperson and Presidential flag-bearer in the 2026 General Election, said he then involved his lawyers, and they saw that there was a mistake.
“So, it was easy to cancel the other declaration and uphold [the election of] Menya. Now, in the other cases, it is all a question of facts because NRM set a trap long ago for bad people,” he said.
He noted that the primaries were by lining up behind a candidate of one’s choice or their posters during the day and not at night.

“So, when we count [the votes], we are all there; agents of the candidates are there, security agencies are there, the [members of the] public are there. So, when you lie, count and announce, and then somebody goes and changes, you must be stupid because we can crosscheck,” Museveni said.
However, his speech was interrupted by angry shouts from groups of some aggrieved candidates.
“Stop shouting! Be disciplined, please. You are wasting time,” the President implored the noisy groups.
When the Police officers moved to arrest them, Museveni said: “No! You leave them. I will control them.”
He then continued with his speech. “So, if the candidate, together with their agents, has very good facts which they bring to me, I can crosscheck like I did in the question of Menya, and then it is easy to act. Altering election results is a crime,” he told the mammoth crowd.
“Even if he is already a Member of Parliament, we shall arrest him and put him in jail when you bring evidence. So, you don’t have to disorganise NRM. Be systematic and bring evidence,” he emphasised.

Meanwhile, the NRM chief noted, in Ankole, they say a cow you haven’t slaughtered is not meat.
“You first slaughter the cow and call it meat. So, the person who was given a party flag, he or she is the party candidate until evidence is adduced against him,” he said.
He promised the people of Kaliro that his deputy, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, will come back to the district and listen to all the issues arising from the primaries.
“Hajji Kigongo is going to come back here and you will also bring me the evidence,” Museveni assured the people.
