Preparations were yesterday, September 29, 2025, in full swing in Luwero district in anticipation of President Yoweri Museveni's first campaign rally for the 2026 General Election.
The Move follows the ruling party, headed by Museveni, launching its manifesto a day earlier at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
At a grand ceremony hosted at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Hotel, which drew Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, senior NRM officials, and party secretariat leaders, under the theme: “Protecting the Gains and Securing a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.”
President Museveni retraced the NRM’s 60-year historical struggle while also laying out ambitious commitments for the next five years.

President Museveni expressed gratitude to the NRM delegates for once again entrusting him with leadership. He noted that the party had not only re-elected him as National Chairman for the 2025–2031 term but also nominated him as the flag bearer for the 2026 elections.
Now, Museveni is today, September 30, 2025, scheduled to hold his inaugural campaign rally at Bukalasa playgrounds near Wobulenzi town in Katikamu South constituency.
Enthusiastic supporters donning yellow attire, including leaders and residents, spent the whole of Monday sweeping streets, erecting pillars of posters (biyitirirwa) and pinning up campaign posters.

Meanwhile, ministers Alice Kaboyo, John C. Muyingo (higher education state) and several other top movement party officials sat in a lengthy last-minute meeting at the venue as workers erected mega tents.
Business came to a standstill at about 4:00pm as Patriotic League of Uganda Vice-President, Toyota Kaguta, made his entry at the venue in a convoy of chanting bodaboda riders to take part in the preparations.
"We want our candidate to score not less than 90 per cent," Muyingo said.
Muyingo, while talking to the supporters, predicted a 90 per cent win for Museveni.
