KAMPALA - In a bid to amplify the image and popularity of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kampala ahead of the 2026 General Election, a section of youths under the NRM Youth High Command have also started the door-to-door campaign strategy.
The group describes itself as a voluntary, politically affiliated organisation that mobilises youths towards hard work, promotes patriotism, and builds support for the ruling party during elections.
Under the theme 'Empowering the Youth and Uplifting their Voices in the Society,' the group led by chairperson Juma Tinyefunza, on December 28, 2025, moved to several streets canvassing for votes for President Yoweri Museveni and other party flag-bearers.
They were led by a brass band as they set off from Kafumbe Mukasa Road, then they went up to the New Taxi Park, Kisekka Market, Kampala Road and Entebbe Road before converging at Nakivubo Settlement for the official launch.
Tinyefunza told New Vision Online that every December 28, they celebrate their anniversary with food and drinks.
“We have existed since 2010, and towards the 2016 general election, through Moses Kantu alias Uncle Mo, we managed to meet the President at Entebbe State, who, in the process, accepted to be our patron,” he said, adding that he, however, cautioned them to keep in the right direction, which they have maintained to date.
