Young entrepreneurs in Uganda have pledged to rally support for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in the 2031 general elections, as well as to participate in the organisation's activities.
The group is led by chairman Gideon Kirumira, the son of tycoon and the honorary consul of Namibia to Uganda, Godfrey Kirumira.
Kirumira said that as young businesspeople, they have been impressed by PLU's activities such as community meetings (barazas) across the country, aimed at drumming up support for PLU leader Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
“Since our endorsement at the secretariat, we have come to know the operations of the Patriotic League of Uganda more closely, including hosting of endorsers and the barazas held across the country," he said.
"We have seen the commitment it takes to carry this work forward."

Kirumira, in the company of fellow young entrepreneurs, made the remarks on Thursday during the handover of sh23.4 million to the PLU secretariat as a collective expression of their support.
PLU national vice-chairman Michael Nuwagira (better known as Toyota) received the dummy cheque at the PLU headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.
The group said they made the contribution in appreciation of the work the civic-political organization is involved in and to "help move its work forward".
"We kindly ask that you accept our contribution in good faith as further proof of our commitment to the PLU and to our national chairman,” said Kirumira.
