Agriculture minister Frank Tumwebaze has led Members of Parliament from Tooro sub-region to formally endorse Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the presidency in 2031.
This was on Friday (October 2) at the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) office in Nakasero, Kampala.

The delegation, representing the Tooro Parliamentary Caucus, met PLU leadership, including the Head of the Chairman’s Office, Daudi Kabanda, and Director of Mobilisation Michael Mawanda, to express solidarity and align with its regional and national agenda.
Tumwebaze said he and his colleagues had decided to join the citizen voluntary mass action to endorse and express their confidence in Kainerugaba as Uganda's next president.
The group joins several ministers and MPs who have pledged allegiance to PLU.

The PLU Secretariat thanked the caucus, commending the lawmakers’ confidence, leadership and commitment to a united, patriotic and prosperous Uganda.
The endorsement marks another step in PLU’s drive to consolidate political and regional support nationwide.
Kabanda on September 1, 2026, unveiled “Muhoozi Gwe Akimala” as the slogan for CDF Kainerugaba’s anticipated 2031 presidential bid.

The pressure group has since carried out a nationwide endorsement and registration drive and successfully distributed endorsement books in 146 districts targeting over 20 million signatures.
The Tooro endorsement follows a similar declaration by National Resistance Movement (NRM) Buganda Caucus MPs on September 19, 2026 and Ankole sub-region MPs, who also visited the PLU Secretariat earlier to back Kainerugaba.

On September 26, 2026, the leadership and masses of Sebei sub-region (covering Kapchorwa, Kween, and Bukwo districts) endorsed Kainerugaba at the Kapchorwa Boma Grounds, during a rally organised by Twalla, who is also the Tingey County MP, alongside Sebei PLU coordinator Charles Cherukut.
Prominent business leaders, including Sudhir Ruparelia, have also publicly backed the push for Kainerugaba to succeed President Yoweri Museveni.
