Moses Golola vs Umar Semata trilogy will headline a buffet of sporting events lined up as the newly reconstructed Nakivubo Stadium hosts its first major events on June 1.

The newly multi-sports stadium, constructed by Hajji Hamis Kiggundu was officially opened up by President Museveni on April 26, 2024.

The first events at the stadium will have two football matches, two netball games, two basketball league games, one professional kickboxing fight, one professional boxing fight, and one open boxing (amateur) fight on the day.

But of the buffet of these sporting events, the Golola-Semata trilogy blockbuster stands tall for the day based on the duo’s renowned warfare rivalry.

Golola who is currently undergoing intense training at his Golola Talent Academy in Kawempe-Lugoba likens this trilogy to one of the best Hollywood action movies, the first Blood of American Sylvester Stallone commonly known as John Rambo.

“It is going to be bloody. I can’t wait to retire this Katwe Lipanda chap in a new-look Nakivubo stadium. I’m going to torture Semata up to the last minute,” Golola told Vision Sports.

“Our trilogy is like John Rambo’s First Blood movie. This time around I’m to lecture Semata and leave him with no excuses. I commend Hajji Hamis Kiggundu for making this happen again.”

Semata on the other side is unfazed by his counterpart’s claims and sounds confident, a win is in his sight.

“We are used to Golola’s comics. I urge him to train hard because he has to face it hot. To me, this is not a movie. We are in reality and he is going to regret why he accepted the trilogy,” Semata said.

Golola-Semata's fierce rivalry has over the years left many of their fans asking for more.

The two will come into this thriller having previously faced off twice in 2018 and 2019 respectively at Freedom City in Najjanankumbi, Kampala.

Semata took the first lead when he unanimously defeated his counterpart before Golola knocked him out in the fourth round of their rematch at the same venue.

Before Golola-Semata, Isaac Zebra Ssenyange Jr will battle Ibrahim Kitaka for the national super welterweight title as lightweight Zahara Nandawula tussles it out with Agnes Nakato, the only open boxing card on the day.

The day’s match-making had also middleweight Shadir Musa Bwogi taking on Tafu Odoi before it was scrapped off with the former fighting in Asia almost in the same days.

To Hamis Kiggundu, the wait is over, Nakivubo is ready to give the fans a different flavour like never before.
