UPDF foil cattle rustling in East Acholi

ACHOLI - The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 5th Infantry Division has recovered more than 30 herds of cattle in different parts of Acholi Sub-region, in the ongoing campaigns against cattle rustling.

The operation under the wider security campaign codenamed Dumisha Usalama between February 2-4, 2026, covered areas of Lokokwai in Kitgum District, Amita Village in Abim District, and Loborom Village in Agago District.

A release from the Ministry of Defence and Veterans' Affairs states that during the three-day operation, four armed Karamojong warriors were killed.

The troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle with three rounds of ammunition, bows and arrows, and three mobile phones.

He reaffirmed UPDF's commitment to sustain operations aimed at maintaining peace and stability in East Acholi.
