Two suspected criminals have been arrested during a Police foot patrol operation conducted on Nantenza Road in Kungu, Wakiso district.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire told New Vision Online on February 26, 2026, that the suspects, identified as Raymond Ziwa alias Dodo and Lubega Stephen, are alleged to be part of a group commonly known as “pavers,” linked to a series of violent robberies in the area.
“One of the suspects had been on the wanted criminal list in Kungu. The arrests were made during a co-ordinated foot patrol by officers from Najjera and Buwaate,” Owoyesigyire said.
Disruptive operation
He also said in a separate operation, Police together with the army (UPDF) conducted a disruptive operation on the wee hours of Thursday morning in the areas of Namuyenje, Namayiba, and Nagojje in Mukono District.
Raymond Ziwa alias Dodo and Lubega Stephen, are alleged to be part of a group commonly known as “pavers,” linked to a series of violent robberies in the area.
“A total of seven suspects were rounded up from identified crime-prone spots known for harbouring criminals involved in smoking marijuana, waylaying pedestrians, assaulting victims with hammers, and committing robberies. The suspects were found in possession of hammers and other suspected housebreaking implements,” he added.
He said all suspects are currently detained pending prosecution.
“Police remain committed to sustaining such disruptive operations to rid communities of criminal elements and enhance public safety,” Owoyesigyire added.
Their arrest comes in the wake of another operation carried out by Police on Tuesday and Wednesday morning in greater Kampala, where over 350 suspects were arrested.
On Monday, police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said, "between February 16 and 22, 2026, security agencies conducted intensive, intelligence‑led operations across Kampala Metropolitan and upcountry regions, resulting in the arrest of 1,095 suspects linked to burglary, aggravated robbery, narcotics, street mugging and other crimes."
Kituuma added, "The operations targeted blackspots, criminal hideouts and narcotics hubs, and led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and other exhibits, while also rescuing victims and responding to emergency calls from the public".
