The Rotary Club in conjunction with Toastmasters Uganda will hold a two-day conference to showcase the best public speakers in the country starting Friday.
The event, which is expected to attract over 500 contestants, is organised under the theme, “thriving and surviving in the unprecedented times” at Forest Cottages in Bukoto, Kampala.
According to Dr. Christine Nabiryo, the Director of Toastmasters Uganda, winners will represent Uganda at the Mombasa best of East Africa Toastmasters conference in May this year.

She says the conference will open with a business exhibition and a corporate mobilization event with emphasis on topics like retaining market niche in a highly competitive world.
It will focus on sharing tips on topical issues of interest all across the globe as businesses and individuals seek to reset, reflect, and renew their strategies to thrive and survive in these challenging economic and social times.
Proposed speakers will include Toastmasters Uganda strategic partners; Rotary Uganda past district governors, marketing and communications directors of Stanbic Bank Uganda and Toastmasters Director Nabiryo, among others.
Each year Toastmasters divisions run an annual conference which culminates into an annual district event that covers the East African region.
Nabiryo says the conference will provide tips to the Ugandan business fraternity and workforce on thriving and surviving.
“It will map out future opportunities and the relevance of the Toastmasters global educational programme and network of professionals as an opportunity to skilling Uganda’s workforce for competitiveness,” Nabiryo said.
Toastmasters International is a worldwide renowned leader in communication and leadership skills development with a presence in over 140 countries.
Currently, Uganda has 10 Toastmasters clubs in Entebbe, Kampala, Bukoto, Muyenga, Lubowa, Ntinda, Andela and proudly has two forerunner corporate clubs of Stanbic Umoja and Crested Towers Toastmasters club; with the US Embassy, UN base Entebbe and Standard Chartered among others in the offing.
