Uganda's 3x3 U23 men's team won convincingly in their first two games, defeating DR Congo and Togo at the African Games on Monday.

Uganda who are grouped in Pool C, put on a standout display at Legon Netball Court, defeating neighbours DR Congo 21 to 17 and Togo 21 to 16 to keep their quarter-final charge just a game away.

"In our pool, we only had incredibly physical men. As a result, we relied on the team's ability to play and shoot the ball to complete the game at 21 without running out of time,” said Joel Kayiira.

The U23 team will return to action on Wednesday at 7:40 against Burkina Faso to advance to the quarterfinal round.

Meanwhile, today Uganda’s women who are pooled in Pool C will tip off their African Games charge at 7:20 pm in Legon facing Nigeria and Togo.

Uganda will be hoping for a better result with the likes of Mary Amaniyo, Bridget Aber, Sheilah Lumunu, and Becky Langom who have been performing well in the National Basketball League

In the 2019 Africa Games, Women U23 reached the quarterfinals and will look to perform to greater heights in this tournament.
