Uganda, South Sudan officials meet in Kajokeji to strengthen border security

A delegation of leaders from Yumbe and Moyo districts is heading to Kajokeji County in South Sudan for a high-level cross-border security meeting today, Friday.
The Ugandan delegation is being led by the Dean of RDCs in West Nile, Gertrude Collins Obedi.
The meeting is expected to review progress on resolutions reached during a recent Uganda-South Sudan border security meeting held at Hotel Le-Confidentiel in Arua city.
Among the resolutions were the re-demarcation of the disputed 6.12-kilometre Yumbe-Kajokeji border stretch, enhanced joint intelligence operations and improved communication to ensure a quick response to cross-border incidents.

The two sides also agreed to organise cultural and sports activities involving the Aringa and Kuku communities to promote unity and peaceful coexistence.
The engagement comes amid a decade-long border conflict that has resulted in killings, arrests, displacement and loss of property.
