UCU, Vision Group team up to reshape Martyrs Day storytelling

Vision Group and Uganda Christian University (UCU) have signed a strategic partnership aimed at amplifying youth engagement and storytelling ahead of the 2026 Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations.

The agreement, signed on April 27, 2026, at UCU in Mukono, positions Vision Group as the lead media partner for the Anglican celebrations at Namugongo Anglican Shrine, where the university will lead this year’s commemorations on June 3.

UCU Vice Chancellor Aaron Mushengyezi said the collaboration presents an opportunity to project Uganda’s faith heritage through fresh perspectives.

“We believe these stories will now be told differently, through the voices of young people so that the world can better appreciate the faith of the Martyrs and the identity of our nation,” he said.

This year’s celebrations will be held under the theme: “Christ our peace: breaking the walls, healing the nation."

Vision Group chief executive officer Don Wanyama described the partnership as one rooted in “shared values of faith, truth and national unity,” noting that Martyrs Day remains the country’s largest annual faith gathering.

“June 3 is a national moment that draws millions of pilgrims. It is a time of deep reflection, and we are honoured to formalise our role in telling this story,” Wanyama said.

The collaboration will roll out an integrated national media campaign, including high-impact multimedia content produced jointly by UCU students and Vision Group staff.

The memorandum of understanding, which runs from April 15 to June 30, 2026, is also expected to lay the foundation for a long-term collaboration focusing on youth engagement, education and national development conversations.
