Vision Group, through its flagship brand New Vision, is strengthening its role in promoting corporate governance by partnering with corporate entities to advance responsible leadership and business resilience in Uganda.
The media powerhouse is among the sponsors of this year’s LEAD Convention 2026, scheduled for April 30, 2026, a platform that is expected to bring together business leaders, policymakers and industry experts to discuss strategies for navigating uncertainty and fostering sustainable growth.
Speaking at the media launch held in Kampala on April 3, 2026, Vision Group head of marketing Lorraine Tukahirwa said the company is committed to supporting initiatives that respond to the evolving challenges facing businesses.
“As New Vision, we are proud to sponsor this year’s LEAD Convention, as it speaks directly to the urgent need for businesses to adapt, evolve, and remain resilient in an increasingly uncertain environment,” Tukahirwa said.
She made the remarks during the launch event held at Arirang Hotel in Kampala city.
Tukahirwa said the convention’s theme: Future Proofing Business: Risk, Resilience and Responsibility – Leading Through Uncertainty, aligns closely with Vision Group’s mission of empowering organisations with relevant knowledge and tools.
“The theme aligns with our belief in equipping leaders and organisations with the insights, tools, and perspectives needed to navigate change and sustain growth,” she added.
She emphasised that the partnership goes beyond sponsorship, reflecting a broader commitment to promoting informed leadership and responsible business practices across sectors.
“Through this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering informed leadership, promoting responsible business practices, and driving conversations that strengthen resilience across sectors,” she said.
Tukahirwa added that New Vision continues to play a broader role in national development beyond its traditional media functions.
“At New Vision, we see ourselves not just as storytellers, but as enablers of progress, supporting platforms that inspire forward-thinking leadership and contribute to a more sustainable and future-ready business landscape,” she said.
The launch attracted corporate executives from various sectors, including representatives from Capital FM, SMART Applications, and other organisations.
During a panel discussion, aBi Finance chief executive officer Mona Sebuliba underscored the importance of governance in driving sustainability and resilience.
“At the heart of sustainability is good governance, and this enables us to manage our risk, ensure that businesses are resilient, and are also held accountable,” she said.
Sebuliba said the current global and economic environment requires organisations to remain agile and continuously adapt.
“In this very volatile and uncertain world, it is important for us to be agile and to keep learning continuously. This convention allows us to hear the latest insights on risk management, adapt to change, and learn from industry leaders,” she said.
She added that partnerships will be critical for business success going forward.
“Succeeding in today’s world requires partnerships, which are very critical to success,” Sebuliba emphasised.
LEAD chief executive officer Trevor Ariho said the convention comes at a critical moment for Uganda’s economy, particularly as the country approaches the national budget cycle.
“What is happening currently underscores the need for businesses to future-proof now more than ever. We are at a defining economic moment that will shape business confidence, investment flows, and growth trajectories,” Ariho said.
He added that the convention is designed to bring together leaders at the intersection of policy and enterprise, enabling them to interpret changes quickly and take decisive action.
Meanwhile, Centenary Bank executive director Joseph Kiwanuka Balikuddembe said strong governance and sustainability are essential for organisations navigating increasing risks.
“The future we are looking at requires governance and sustainability. There are many risks we face today as a country, regionally, and globally,” he said.
Other partners, including Kenbright, which hosts the LEAD secretariat, also pledged support for the initiative.
The LEAD Convention will be a key platform for stakeholders to discuss corporate responsibility, risk management, and strategies to future-proof businesses amid global and local uncertainties.
