MUKONO - Police have explained how Mukono municipality-based Uganda Christian University (UCU) dean of students Pamela Tumwebaze was attacked and later died on the night of February 10, 2026, after being attacked by a lone assailant.
According to a situation report shared by Mukono Police under case reference number Mukono CRB: 195/2026, Tumwebaze had been staying with her two children, Elijah and Noah, aged between 10 and 13, respectively, plus houseboy Sharif Lwantale, 20.
Police say her assailant, whose identity remains unknown, gained entry into her house and strangled her.
“The deceased came back home at around 10:00pm with her two children, and the house help opened the gate for her... The assailant must have gained entry at the time when the housemaid had gone to open for the deceased,” Police stated.
Police note that it was inside the house that the assailant attacked Tumwebaze, strangling her.
“The assailant, after the act, asked the house help to give him the keys to open the main door."
The Police account indicates that the assailant later fled into the deep of the night with a laptop bag carrying unestablished items and the deceased's phone.
The houseboy later dashed to Tumwebaze's room, where he found her strangled. Tumwebaze was later rushed to Mukono Namirembe Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The statement noted that on February 11, at about 5:00am, they received information that Tumwebaze had been murdered.
The statement indicated that a team of Police officers led by Mukono Police Station officer in charge, Majid Alituha, and the Scene of Crime Officers visited the scene, examined and documented it.
By press time, the deceased's body had been taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
