Two Ugandan students killed in Nairobi road crash

One of the deceased, New Vision Online has learnt, is a daughter to Kaddu Ssebunya, head of the Africa Wildlife Foundation.

A close family member said the car in which they were travelling was being driven by a fellow Kenyan student at the time of the accident.

NAIROBI - Two Ugandan students at a Kenyan international school, Peponi School in Nairobi County, were on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at around 4:00 am killed in a road crash.

The two, Yzeera Ssebunya and Danielle Mirembe Kembabazi Kavuma, were killed in a car crash in Nairobi while returning from a party.

One of the deceased, New Vision Online has learnt that Yzeera Ssebunya is a daughter to Kaddu and Doreen Ssebunya, while Kembabazi is a daughter to Andrew, and Mercy Kavuma.

A close family member said the car in which they were travelling was being driven by a fellow Kenyan student at the time of the accident.

Jimmy Kiberu, an uncle to one of the girls, confirmed their deaths in a post on X, saying, "Tragedy! The angel of death took one of our number in Nairobi early Sunday morning. With deep sadness Yzeera, daughter of Doreen Ssebunya, was in a car accident around 4:00 am in Nairobi. This is more than heartbreaking. Praying for the family".

Peponi School headmaster Mark Durston also confirmed the incident and said they were devastated as a school.

"In this deeply difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the families. As we begin to process this news, may I ask that we respect the families' need for time and space as they come to terms with their loss," Durston said.

A funeral service has been organised by Peponi School today at 12:30 PM at the school grounds in Nairobi, Kenya.
