A 19-year-old man is dead, and two suspects are in custody following a violent altercation at a bar in Mubende district in the early hours of May 15, 2026.

Davis Namara, a resident of Bulaaza village, Nkandwa parish in Kayebe sub-county, had been enjoying a night out with three companions at Prossy Namata’s bar in Bulaaza village when a disagreement among the group turned violent.

According to Lameck Kigozi, the public relations officer for Wamala Region, a suspect identified only as Nkamuhabwe allegedly struck Namara on the head with a bottle of Eagle Lager, inflicting fatal injuries.

The group attempted to seek help by rushing the victim to a nearby drug shop operated by Musawo Nakakawa Scovia, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspects then abandoned his body on the verandah of the drug shop and fled.

Police were alerted, and a homicide team was dispatched from Mubende Police Command to examine the scene. The body was subsequently conveyed to Mubende Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Two of Namara’s companions, Deogracious Twinomukama, alias Kanini, 60, and Deus Akankwasa, 37, both residents of Bulaaza village, have been arrested and are currently being held at CPS Mubende.

A third suspect, Nkamuhabwe, remains at large, and police said efforts to apprehend him are ongoing. Investigations into the incident continue.
