Over 350 suspects arrested as KMP intensifies operations against criminality

KAMPALA - Kampala Metropolitan Police on Wednesday (February 25) said its different territorial police units on February 24, 2026, carried out a series of operations in which over 300 suspects were arrested.

Racheal Kawala, the KMP spokesperson, said the coordinated disruptive operations, which resulted in multiple arrests and recovery of exhibits, were aimed at curbing crime and enhancing public safety across Kampala Metropolitan Police and surrounding districts.

She said that in Kira Division, Wakiso district, on February 24, 2026, at about 8:00 am, police conducted operations in Mulawa trading centre and Najjera Kamwanyi, leading to the arrest of 81 suspects.

In Old Kampala Division, police, between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm, carried out operations in Kisenyi zone, Muza zone and surrounding areas, resulting in the arrest of 152 suspects.

At Kira Road Division, during the late hours of Wednesday, police carried out operations in Universal Kisaasi sector, Kamwokya and Kyebando, which led to the arrest of 49 suspects.

At Jinja Road Division, police on Tuesday at around 11:00 pm carried out operations in Center Zone, Kaggo Buyinja and Kinawataka in Nakawa Division, Kampala, resulting in the arrest of 20 suspects.

At Nansana Police, officers on Wednesday at about 3:00 am conducted operations in Nansana, leading to the arrest of 48 suspects.

In Wakiso Police Division, on Tuesday at about 5:00 pm, police carried out operations in Wakiso town, resulting in the arrest of 23 suspects.

In Bulenga, Wakiso district, police, between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm, carried out operations including Musoke Road, Kawuzi Street, Gogonya and Kikaaya Katogo, leading to the arrest of 50 suspects.

In Kajjansi Police Division, Wakiso district, Kawala said police on Tuesday at about 5:00 pm carried out operations in Kilyamuli, Kilumba and Namulanda Ward in Kajjansi town council, which resulted in the arrest of six suspects.

"During the operations, police recovered exhibits of opium rolls, breaking implements and suspected house-breaking tools, "Kawala said.

She revealed that all suspects are currently in police custody.

"Cases of possession of opium and public nuisance have been opened. The suspects will be screened and produced before court in due course," She noted.

The operations come in the wake of a series of other operations carried out on Monday in which over 200 suspects were arrested.

On Monday, police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said, "between Monday, February 16, and Sunday, February 22, 2026, security agencies conducted intensive, intelligence-led operations across Kampala Metropolitan and upcountry regions, resulting in the arrest of 1,095 suspects linked to burglary, aggravated robbery, narcotics, street mugging and other crimes."

Kituuma said, "The operations targeted blackspots, criminal hideouts and narcotics hubs, and led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and other exhibits, while also rescuing victims and responding to emergency calls from the public".
