WAKISO - Two people have been confirmed dead and nine others injured on Tuesday, September 8th, following a crash involving two vehicles.
The 1:33pm incident occurred at Nkoowe along the Kampala–Hoima Road in Wakiso District.
Uganda Police Force reports that the crash involved four vehicles: UBK 495F Sino Truck, UAT 272J T/Hiace, UBB 353D Subaru Forester and UBE 918T Toyota Wish.
Police Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the Sino truck, loaded with stones from Kakiri towards Kampala, lost control at Nkoowe and rammed into the other three vehicles, including a commuter taxi that had stopped by the roadside to pick up waiting commuters.
The driver and conductor of the taxi, who were severely injured, died on the spot, according to Michael Kananura, the Uganda police traffic and safety public relations officer.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the Sino truck lost control.
A total of nine passengers in the commuter taxi also sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby health facility as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
