Two boda boda riders have been charged before City Hall Court over aggravated robbery of sh50m and remanded to Luzira prison.

The two are; Musoke Eric 19, a resident of Dungu zone in Kisaasi, and Ramathan Jingo alias Rama, 18, a resident of Kitara -Kanyanya in Kawempe, Kampala.

The two boda boda riders were arraigned before court on Thursday evening (October 15).

They were charged together with Yasin Ssemanda alias Zanda alias Ssalongo, 27, a businessman, who is a resident of Najeera in Wakiso district and Cohen Kasumba alias Con.

Aggravated robbery charges

The first charge sheet presented before Senior Magistrate Edgar Karakire of City Hall court in Kampala states that on August 6, 2026, at Kiwatule Central zone in Nakawa division, the accused robbed Sylvia Muhorakyeye of her cash amounting to sh35m and a Samsung phone worth sh950,000.

It is alleged that the accused gang used a panga on Muhorakyeye during or immediately after the said robbery.

Prosecution on a different file alleges that Ssemanda and Musoke, on July 2, 2026, at Kalinabiri road in Ntinda within Nakawa division, Kampala, robbed Johnson Tayebwa Mugira of his cash amounting to sh15m.

It is further stated that before or immediately after the said robbery, the accused persons used a panga on the said Tayebwa.

On another charge sheet, prosecution alleges that Musoke, Jingo, and Ssemanda, on July 21, 2026, at Rubis Petrol Station, Kamwokya, robbed Mariam Akampulira of her laptop bag worth sh60,000, a Volleon mobile phone worth sh299,000, a Samsung mobile phone worth sh700,000, and an iPhone mobile phone worth sh3.45m.

The group is alleged to have used a deadly weapon on the victim, Akampulira, before or after the said robbery.

The magistrate read the charges to the accused persons, but did not allow them to take a plea because of the capital nature of the charges, which his court has no jurisdiction to hear.

Magistrate Karakire told the accused that they will continue to appear before him until prosecution finishes its investigations, and then be committed to the High Court for trial.

He, however, notified them of their right to apply for bail before the High Court.

The magistrate remanded them until November 4, 2026, when they will reappear for mention of their case.
