Three people were injured in a serious crash Thursday (September 25) on the Jinja–Kampala highway in Njeru, Buikwe district.
The crash happened at a few minutes before 7am, Police said.
Here, a Fuso truck (UBK 622C) that was transporting biogas from Kampala headed for Jinja lost control, reportedly due to high speed.
The truck first rammed into a Coaster bus (UAG 221P) that was heading to Kampala. It then also hit a Toyota Hiace commuter taxi (UBB 059N) coming from the same direction.
All three vehicles veered off the road and plunged into a nearby water channel.
Two of the three injured were identified;
▪️Christian Doreen Misanya, a 28-year-old resident of Seeta in Mukono district who was a passenger in the taxi
▪️Christian Stephen Ssewankambo, the 46-year-old taxi driver from Nateete in Kampala
The other one is an unidentified male adult who was travelling in the Fuso truck.
They were all taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, the three vehicles involved were towed to Njeru Police yard, awaiting inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles.
Christian Hellen Butoto, the Police spokesperson for Ssezibwa region, confirmed the crash and said inquiries were ongoing.
