Suspects on the run over malicious damage to property rearrested, charged, remanded

KIBOGA - After being charged with forcible entry, malicious damage, and assault, Ronald
Ainebyoona went on the run for over six months.

However, his luck ran out after he was arrested by a joint team of State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), officers of the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).

In a statement released on September 25, 2025, SHACU said, Ainebyoona had been arraigned before the Kiboga Chief Magistrates' Court on charges of forcible entry, malicious damage, and assault.”

The statement notes that after his initial plea on March 27, 2025, the accused was released on court bail but absconded, going into hiding for six months.

A warrant of arrest was issued against him on June 30, 2025. Despite this, he continued to evade justice. The Unit worked tirelessly with Police, tracing and re-arresting him on Friday.

According to the statement, initially, on March 14, 2025, the investigation found that Ainebyoona and others still at large, violently entered land in Block 542, Plot 2, Kiboga district, evicted several occupants, damaged crops, houses, a fence and animal sheds belonging to the complainant, Badru Mwanje, a 70-year-old man, and assaulted people present on the land.

This case resulted from a directive by President Yoweri Museveni to the head of the unit.
