Singer Spice Diana has made a police statement concerning a man who was found murdered in Makindye, a city suburb, last week.

She had been summoned by Katwe Police Post over the matter. This murder case is registered under file number SD.ref 07/30/06/2022.

The dead man was identified as Henry Nsamba, aged 27.

Insiders at Katwe Police say the death could have occurred in the early hours of Thursday, June 30.

Hajarah Namukwaya aka Spice Diana made the statement from the comfort of her home in Kyamuka Zone on Salaama Road, Makindye in Kampala.

The singer narrated what she saw and heard on the fateful Thursday night.

Spice Diana says that night, while she was sleeping in her bedroom, she heard a scuffle outside her house, before she received a phone call from her security personnel, informing her that there was a problem.

On receiving the call, Spice said she ordered them to call the Police.

She said she remained in her bedroom and would only move out when the Police arrived to avoid risking her life.

Spice said once she was notified that the Police had arrived, she went to the scene to see what had happened.

By the time she arrived on the scene, Nsamba was far from her home and he was lying on the ground.

She said she saw the victim, but didn’t know him.

It is alleged that people who had beaten Nsamba up had fled the scene and none of those that were paraded by Police for beating Nsamba was among them.

The matter was handed over to Kyamaka police, who removed Nsamba from the scene.

It is said that Spice got to know about his death later.

The singer said she doesn’t know how the late man was arrested or how he was beaten up.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan, says whatever Spice Diana told them was added to the case file, which they are going to forward to the Director of Public Prosecutions for more investigations.

Spice Diana’s helpers, Stuart Ssemaganda and Amina Kimera, are still with the Police as investigations go on. They both made statements.

Kimera says she heard noise while she was on the upper floor of the house and by the time she reached downstairs, Nsamba had been badly beaten.

Ssemaganda says he didn’t know about Nsamba’s being beaten by the time the incident happened.

The Police are still investigating how Nsamba left Bunamwaya in Ngobe zone where he has been living, only to end up at Spice Diana’s home, where he was allegedly caught jumping over her fence.

Relatives of Nsamba, headed by his father, say besides bricklaying, Nsamba had started singing.

They revealed that there is a musician whose name he didn’t mention in Makindye, where he used to go for training in music.

Some of the residents insist Nsamba was beaten inside Spice Diana’s home and was thrown out naked when they realised he was about to die.

Other residents say Nsamba was arrested and on trying to take him to Police, a mob overpowered the people that were taking him to Police and beat him to the extent of losing his life.

The LC1 chairman says he still didn’t know about the incident and got to know about it the following day.
