Soroti pupil murder suspects arrive in court for trial
The suspects are slated to appear before Soroti resident judge Boniface Wamala. The suspects were driven into the court premises amid tight security mounted by the police and prison officers.

Six suspects accused of taking part in the murder of five-year-old Joan Faith Apio, a former pupil at Jozan Nursery and Primary School, have arrived at Soroti High Court for the hearing of their case.
The suspects include Joseph Okedi, 43, the school director; and John Bosco Obotol, 34, a police officer attached to crime intelligence in Soroti City East division, who is also a younger brother to Okedi.
Other suspects are: Okedi’s wife Suzan Vivian Ariokot, 38; James Edoket, 32, the school headmaster; Valentin Opio, 37, the school cook; and the daughter of Okedi.

“On February 5, 2025, at Jozan Nursery and Primary School in East Division, Soroti City, with malice aforethought, the accused unlawfully caused the death of Joan Faith Apio,” the charge sheet read in part.
