Soroti High Court opens session for 50 criminal cases

The Soroti High Court Circuit has started hearings for 50 criminal cases in a session that got underway today, Monday (April 27).

The session is being presided over by resident judge Boniface Wamala.

According to the court's deputy registrar, Geoffrey Emmy Sayekwo, the cases include murder, aggravated defilement, rape, aggravated robbery and aggravated trafficking.

Murder cases top the list with 32, followed by 15 cases of aggravated defilement, seven rape cases, two cases of aggravated trafficking and one aggravated robbery case.

Among notable suspects are John Opila, facing aggravated defilement, Solomon Ebonyu and Nelson Elabu on murder charges, David Edolu also on murder charges, and George Olila accused of aggravated child trafficking.
