SOROTI - A 20-year-old man, Isaac Ajwau, has been remanded to prison until May 9th on charges of defiling a 16-year-old.
On Tuesday, the Soroti Magistrates’ Court heard that the incident took place in Akisim Village, between February and December 2024.
State Prosecutor Emmanuel Bamwesinge told court that the case was capital in nature, and only handled by the High Court.
Presiding Magistrate Apollo Kasujja Kibirige did not take the accused’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction and remanded him as investigations continue.
Defilement cases are tried by the High Court after the Director of Public Prosecutions completes inquiries. The case was adjourned to May 9th, 2026.
