Police in Kyegegwa district have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a woman, her infant daughter and a domestic worker, whose bodies were discovered at their home in Karokalungi village.
The victims were identified as 28-year-old Christine Kansiime, her daughter Miracle, aged one year and three months, and 19-year-old Joan, who worked as a domestic helper at Kansiime’s home.
The killings reportedly occurred on October 7, 2026 in Karokalungi LC I, Kyamagaba parish, Nkanja sub-county.
According to police, the bodies were discovered the following day after a neighbour visited the residence at about 1:00pm on October 8 to check on the occupants.
The neighbour reportedly found the bodies and alerted other residents, who notified police.
Officers from Kyaka II Police Station responded to the scene, later joined by a team from Kyegegwa Central Police Station.
Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West regional police spokesperson, said investigations were under way, with two suspects arrested following a canine tracking exercise.
Police introduced a sniffer dog, identified as Bruno, to the scene to pick up a scent. The dog reportedly tracked a human scent to a corridor in Bwiliza Ndolobwile village, where clothing belonging to one of the deceased was recovered.
The tracking trail subsequently led officers to the home of a suspect identified as Tonesiti Bageza, where additional clothing was recovered.
The two suspects were arrested as detectives continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the killings and sought to establish the motive.
Police commended residents for preserving the crime scene, noting that this helped investigators and the canine unit during the tracking exercise.
The suspects remain under investigation as police pursue further inquiries into the triple murder.
