Six Congolese nationals arrested in Arua over fake dollars

The territorial Police in Arua have arrested six Congolese nationals for allegedly selling fake dollars in Upper Bibia cell, Pangisa ward, Central division, Arua city, on August 29, 2025.

The police spokesperson for the West Nile region, SP Jimmy Anguyo Bayiga, said police, through their intelligence network, received information that some people were selling fake dollars in the city.

Consequently, police swung into action and dispatched a team of detectives to the said venue, posing as buyers. The operations team, led by Richard Amvuku, was able to corner six suspects, although others fled.

Anguyo identified the suspects as Minike Dudu, Mumbere Asiha, Akwiriza Dudu Mitira, Shadrak Kaputara, Jean Pierre Hassan, and Musa Ahmed.

He said that during the search of the suspects, 12 sticks of rolled marijuana were recovered and exhibited together with the fake dollars.

He said that upon completion of investigations, the suspects would be presented in court.

Police have warned the public to desist from such crimes.

Anguyo appreciated the public for giving the police timely information that enabled the arrest of the suspects.
