KAMPALA - The President of the Democratic Party ( DP), Nobert Mao, has implored the Government to consider establishing a COVID-19 relief fund for schools ahead of the reopening.
According to Mao, schools are hiking fees citing the costs of enforcing COVID-19 SOPs.
"Government should allocate COVID Relief Fund to schools to save parents from this burden," Mao said in a Twitter post on Tuesday.
He warned that without a government hand 50 percent of students will not return to school.
He added that: "This is a time bomb if not managed well".
Government recently said it wouldn't extend such a fund to any private schools.
