Police at Old Kampala Police Station say they are investigating a double murder that occurred at about 11:00pm on December 15, 2025, in Kawempe Zone, Kisenyi III Parish, Kampala city's Central Division.
Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said two Burundian nationals were attacked by their colleagues, who used a knife to fatally injure them.
“It is alleged that a 30-year-old male suspect, identified as Emma alias “Young,” a Burundian national and resident of the area, attacked and killed two fellow Burundian male adults aged approximately 30 and 20 years. The first victim was allegedly attacked while returning from work as a hawker and died instantly after his neck was cut. The suspect then reportedly moved about 300 metres to the second victim’s residence, where he attacked him while asleep and similarly caused instant death,” Owoyesigyire said.
He revealed that after the attacks, the suspect is said to have inflicted serious injuries on himself by cutting his neck. Members of the public restrained him and alerted Police.
“He was found in critical condition and rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment under Police guard,” Owoyesigyire added.
Owoyesigyire said Police visited and documented both crime scenes, recovered two knives suspected to have been used in the attacks, recorded statements from witnesses, and conveyed the bodies for postmortem examination.
“Efforts are ongoing to identify the victims and trace their next of kin as investigations into the motive and circumstances of the incident continue,” he stated.
He promised to share further updates as inquiries progress.
The 2024 Annual Police Crime Report, released in February this year, indicated that homicide cases rose by 1.9 per cent, with 4,329 cases reported in 2024, compared to 4,248 in 2023. Land disputes, revenge killings, domestic violence and politically motivated murders continued to drive homicide rates.
