KAKUMIRO — Police have launched investigations into the killing of Amos Muhumuza, 35, who was found murdered in Mutabwa Cell, Lukunya Ward, Kakindo town council in Kakumiro district, on November 5, 2025, at about 2:30am.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had recently rented a room in the area and had sent a bodaboda rider with rent and personal belongings.

However, he was later discovered dead near his new residence with visible injuries, suggesting a violent struggle.

“The motorcycle that was used to transport his belongings was missing from the scene, and his property was left scattered nearby,” Police said in a statement.

Detectives have since registered the case under reference KK/CRB/1031/2025, visited the scene, and collected exhibits, including blood samples and photographs. Statements were recorded from several witnesses, and the body was conveyed to Kakumiro Health Centre IV for postmortem examination.

Preliminary inquiries suggest the deceased was waylaid and attacked by unknown assailants as he arrived at his new home.

“We appeal to anyone with information regarding the attackers or the missing motorcycle to come forward and assist police investigations,” said Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson.
