Hussein Wagaba, 27, from Kayunga in Wakiso district, was arrested today.

"The victim, Deborah Nakawome, aged 27, had withdrawn shillings 21 million from a bank in Ntinda and hired a bodaboda to return home to Buwaate. On reaching Najeera, a few metres from the Police station opposite Stabex, another motorcycle approached at high speed, and the passenger grabbed her bag," Owoyesigyire said.

He revealed that the victim raised an alarm, prompting Police officers nearby to respond immediately.

"One suspect who was riding the motorcycle managed to escape due to heavy traffic, which made it unsafe for officers to open fire. However, the suspect who grabbed the bag was arrested, and the sh21m was recovered," Owoyesigyire added.

He said the suspect is currently detained at Najjera Police Station as investigations continue and efforts are underway to arrest the accomplice.
