Police in Kisoro District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an Australian tourist, who reportedly slipped and fell to her death in Nkuringo Sub-county, Bukimbiri County.
The incident occurred today, September 23, 2026, according to Nelson Tumushime, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson.
Tumushime said preliminary investigations indicate that the yet-to-be-identified female tourist slipped and fell, sustaining injuries that led to her death.
“The homicide team, together with Uganda Wildlife Authority officials, are currently on the ground to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and furnish us with more details,” Tumushime said.
Police said they would provide further details as investigations progress.
