DOKOLO - Colleagues of a detective constable attached to Dokolo Central Police Station were forced to break down his room door on April 24, 2026, after he failed to show up throughout the morning, only to find him lying face down on the floor, dead.

Patrick Okema, police spokesperson for North Kyoga Region, identified the deceased as D/CPL Faizal Galandi, 41, a resident of the Dokolo police barracks.

According to Okema, concern mounted after Galandi was not seen during the morning hours and did not respond to knocks on his door.

A case of sudden death has been registered at Dokolo CPS and a death enquiry file opened.

The scene was visited and documented, and the body conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for post-mortem examination. Statements have been obtained from relevant witnesses.

Preliminary findings indicate that Galandi had been suffering from an eye-related illness alongside other health complications and had been receiving treatment under the Police Directorate of Health Services at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala.

The circumstances of his death are still under investigation. Police have extended condolences to his family.
