Police have listed 11,896 successful candidates expected to be recruited into the force after undergoing training.

The individuals, who are expected to undergo training as Probationary Police Constables (PPCs), following a highly competitive recruitment process that attracted over 41,000 applicants nationwide.

Speaking during the weekly joint security media briefing at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala on Monday, June 30, 2025, Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma said the shortlisted candidates are expected to report on July 7, 2025, to three designated police training schools across the country.

“You will recall that we put out an advert on March 10, 2025, inviting applications. From that, we received a total of 41,378 applicants who expressed interest in joining the Force as PPCs,” Kituuma said.

Out of the initial pool, 17,174 candidates were shortlisted and subsequently interviewed between April 28 and May 5, 2025. The selection process, according to police, followed a rigorous screening procedure based on academic qualifications, physical fitness, and general suitability.

“From these, a total of 11,896 candidates successfully passed all stages and have now been selected to commence their basic police training,” Kituuma stated.

Training centres

The successful candidates have been assigned to one of three training centres:

Police Training School (PTS) Kabalye in Masindi District – located in the Bunyoro region.

Olilim Police Training School in Katakwi district, which serves Teso region.

Ikafe Police Training School in Yumbe district, located in the West Nile region.

Each candidate’s name appears alongside the designated training school on the published list. The full lists are now available for public viewing at all district, division, and regional police headquarters, according to Kituuma.

“We expect each shortlisted candidate to take the initiative to check the lists displayed at the district headquarters where they applied from, and then proceed to the training school listed against their name,” he said.

Reporting, requirements

Candidates have been instructed to report on Monday, July 7, 2025, to their assigned training centres at their own cost. Each trainee is expected to carry along a specified list of personal effects, which has been published on the Police website and shared with the media.

“These items include basic personal necessities such as bedding, hygiene materials, and other supplies to facilitate their stay at the training school,” Kituuma explained.

He added that the Police will not provide transport, and no allowances will be paid before training starts.

Verification, warning against forgery

Despite having been selected, Kituuma cautioned that candidates will continue to undergo background and document verification during training. He issued a stern warning to anyone who may have used forged academic documents or false identities to secure their place.

“Let it be known that if we find out, even during training, that any individual presented forged documents or misrepresented themselves, they will not only be dismissed but also charged in a court of law,” he said.

“Once caught, such individuals will be arrested and transported to the nearest Police station for prosecution. There will be no chance to return home. You will go straight into custody and face the judicial process,” Kituuma added.
