KOBOKO - Police in Koboko are investigating circumstances under which a man was killed by unknown people in what is suspected to be a mob attack in Koboko district.

The incident happened on the night of Thursday at Kulubunyaku trading centre in the village of Longira village, Lobule sub-county.

Sulaiman Data, a 47-year-old resident of Adugule village in the same sub-county was attacked at around 9pm on his way back from the trading centre.

He was found to have sustained multiple injuries from the attack.

Two members of his clan were seriously injured. They are Suleiman Abibu, 40, and Silimani Awadi, 35, also residents of Adugule village.

They were shot with a bow and arrow during the night attack, whose motive is not known, according to the Police.

The injured were taken to Koboko General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Josephine Angucia, the Police spokesperson for West Nile, confirmed the incident and said Police are investigating the case.

She said the body of Sulaiman Data was taken to Koboko Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem examination was conducted, and the body later handed over to the family for burial.

"Relevant statements were recorded," added Angucia.

Police and UPDF personnel were deployed in the area to restore calm as the relatives of the deceased proceeded with burial arrangements, and the search for the suspects continued.

Preliminary Police findings indicated that there has been a protracted conflict between the two clans of Loinya and Paduku, both in Lobule sub-county in Koboko district.
