New apostolic nuncio arrives in Uganda

The new Papal representative to Uganda, Archbishop Tomasz Grysa, 56, has arrived in the country to take up his new assignment.
Grysa, who was the titular Archbishop of Rubicon, was appointed the new Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda three months ago by Pope Leo XIV.
Grysa will replace Archbishop Luigi Bianco, who served as Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda from 2019 to 2025. The Italian prelate was appointed to a new diplomatic post in Europe, where he serves as Apostolic Nuncio to Slovenia and Apostolic Delegate for Kosovo.
Before his appointment to Uganda, Grysa served as Apostolic Nuncio to Madagascar, Seychelles and the Republic of Mauritius, and as Apostolic Delegate to Comoros and La Reunion
According to the secretary general of the Episcopal Conference, Msgr John Baptist Kauta, the Apostolic Nuncio was welcomed by the chairman of the Episcopal Conference and Archbishop of Kampala, Paul Ssemogerere, the secretary of the nunciature in Mbuya, Fr Georges Kwami Kouwonou, and others.

Grysa was born on October 16, 1970, in Poznan, Poland. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Poznan on May 25, 1995.
He holds a doctorate in Canon Law. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on July 1, 2001, serving as a pontifical representative in different countries and missions, including the Russian Federation, India, Belgium, Mexico, Brazil, the UN Permanent Mission in New York, Israel, and the Apostolic Delegation in Jerusalem and Palestine.
