Kivumbi, who is also the National Unity Platform deputy president for the Buganda region, and his 24 co-accused are facing terrorism charges stemming from alleged violent incidents that occurred in Kibibi and Gombe town councils in the aftermath of the January 15 general elections.

This is the fourth time the accused have appeared before the Butambala Chief Magistrate, Deogratious Ssejemba, since their arrest.

On March 10 this year, when the accused last appeared before court, issues regarding underage suspects, among them, were raised, prompting the presiding magistrate to halt proceedings.

The magistrate instructed prison warders to conduct tests on the two suspected minors to ascertain their true age and present a report, which the court will rely on to determine whether they should remain in Kitalya Prison or be transferred to a juvenile detention centre, as requested by the defence lawyers.
