President Yoweri Museveni has fulfilled a promise made six months ago by gifting a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser to the Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt Rev. Prof. Dr Grace Lubaale, to facilitate his pastoral duties and community outreach.

The official handover ceremony took place on June 14, 2026, at the Office of the Vice President in Kampala. Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo presided over the event on behalf of the President.

The gift stems from a pledge President Museveni made during Bishop Lubaale’s consecration and enthronement on December 14, 2025. At the time, Vice President Alupo represented the Head of State at the religious ceremony.

"You recall that, at your consecration as Bishop of Busoga Diocese on December 14, 2025, I had the honour to represent H.E. the President. On that occasion, he pledged to support your ministry with a vehicle to ease your pastoral work," Vice President Alupo said while presenting the branded vehicle.

"Today, I'm pleased to deliver on that promise. On behalf of His Excellency, I hand over this vehicle to you, the bishop of Busoga Diocese. May it help you as you reach out to the faithful across this diocese," she added.

During the ceremony, the Vice President, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament for Katakwi district, emphasised the government's appreciation of the church's role as a key partner in education and moral guidance. She commended Bishop Lubaale for his servant leadership and efforts to unite the people of the Busoga sub region.

Delivering the personal blessings of President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, Vice President Alupo requested the Bishop's continued prayers for the nation under his spiritual leadership.

"Receive this vehicle in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit," she concluded.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the diocese, Bishop Lubaale expressed gratitude to the President for fulfilling the pledge.

He said the new vehicle would significantly enhance his ability to serve the expansive diocese.

"This transport will go a long way in helping me reach various parts of the diocese, not only to preach the gospel of Christ but also to mobilise Christians to embrace development and fight poverty," Bishop Lubaale said.

He added that the vehicle would enable him to move more easily from parish to parish to promote reconciliation and unity among Christians.

Earlier in the day, Vice President Alupo joined Christians at St Kaloli Lwanga Parish in Ggaba for Mass.

During the service, she congratulated the faithful on the peaceful conclusion of the 2026 election season and the recent political appointments, urging continued peace and cooperation within the community.
