Christians in Nombe Parish, Ankole Diocese, have been urged to embrace forgiveness as a foundation for peaceful families and stronger communities.
Rev. Canon Asaph Kabakyenga, the dean of students at Bishop Stuart University, made the call on Sunday (June 28) during a St Peter's Day service at St Andrew Church of Uganda in Kashari North County, Mbarara district, attended by hundreds of worshippers.
Rev. Kabakyenga said forgiveness promotes peace and healing within families, adding that such values ultimately contribute to national development.
The Archdeacon of Nombe Archdeaconry, Rev. Canon Denis Amwine Kizinduka, thanked Christians for attending the service in large numbers and encouraged them to continue supporting God's ministry.
He also urged members of the Father's Union to be strong pillars of peace within their families and to champion evangelism founded on love, unity and community development.
Rev. Kizinduka further commended Christians for supporting the ongoing construction of Nombe Church, noting that the project has reached the ring beam stage. He appealed to them to continue contributing towards its completion.
Nathan Mugume, the head of laity at Nombe Parish, urged parents to invest in their children's education, describing it as a lasting investment that benefits families for generations.
Atwijukire Kyambia, the Father's Union coordinator for Nombe Archdeaconry, encouraged young people to return to God, saying this would help them become responsible leaders and better support their families.
