The police have arrested Abdul Kirumira for allegedly tampering with police closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at various locations within the Kampala Metropolitan area.

The deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the arrest during a press briefing on Monday, July 8, at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.

Owoyesigyire stated that Kirumira had been captured on camera multiple times attempting to damage camera installations, throwing stones, and digging out cables.

He was apprehended by officers from Natete Police Station and detained on July 5, 2024.

Owoyesigyire also mentioned that Kirumira would undergo a mental health evaluation today (Monday) before a statement about his behaviour is recorded.
